SKACEL IN BLAST AT SPIT TALKGary Ralston HEARTS star Rudi Skacel has denied spitting at Dundee United's Stuart Duff. The Czech midfielder insisted he is innocent as United announced they won't be taking the matter any further. It is understood the tapes offer inconclusive proof of the alleged incident. Skacel was accused of the foul behaviour during a melee towards the end of Tuesday night's 1 - 1 draw at Tannadice. Duff initially wanted the SFA to study video evidence after the alleged offence was missed by match refereee Dougie McDonald. However, Skacel has denied it took place and pointed an accusing finger at McDonald for failing to take a tighter control of the game. Skacel said: "It was a very wild game with plenty of challenges and skirmishes. "The referee wasn't good but I certainly didn't spit at anyone. That's all I want to say about it." A United spokesman said: "We have a very good relationship with Hearts and we'll speak privately with them to discuss the matter. However, we don't want it to escalate any further." Meanwhile, Hearts stars may be forced to wait until tomorrow for a chance to speak with club owner Vladimir Romanov about his interference in team affairs. Romanov is due back in Edinburgh this afternoon to take in the game against Aberdeen tomorrow and has agreed to clear-the-air-talks with players straight after the Dons match. Romanov said: "I hope it will be a fruitful meeting and all will be fine." Taken from the Daily Record |
