MISSION IMPOSPISIL! BOSS CAN'T DROP

By Euan Mclean

CRACKSHOT Michal Pospisil hopes his stunning strike against Aberdeen keeps him in front of the army of strikers battling for a slot at Hearts.

But the Czech reckons his goal is more precious as it takes Hearts a step closer to Scottish Cup glory - and he's learned how much that means to Jambos fans.

Pospisil's superb volley set Hearts on their way to an impressive 3-0 victory over Dons as another new hitman Juho Makela watched from the bench.

With Makela's arrival taking the number of hitmen at the club to SIX Pospisil knows the need to keep bulging the net is more crucial than ever.

And he's desperate to do so as he sets his sights on a lifelong dream of netting in a cup final and experiencing the thrill he's only seen in snaps from Hearts' last Scottish Cup triumph in 1998.

Pospisil said: "I won the Czech Cup with Viktoria Zizkov in 1991 and scored in the semi-final although I've still to live the dream of scoring in a final.

"I hope I can do that this year with Hearts because the Scottish Cup is important to me and especially the fans.

"I've seen pictures of the celebrations from the last time Hearts won the cup and could see how much it meant to everyone connected with the club.

"For something so special we must give 100 per cent. We can't just concentrate on the the league.

"Any trophies we can bring to Hearts will be special and it would mean a lot to me to have another medal. We are only in the quarter-final but have more chance with Celtic and Rangers out. This is a big opportunity for us.

"I'm pleased with our draw against Inverness. They have a good team but the important thing is we are at home and will be confident of winning.

"I hope to be part of a good cup run because we have a big squad and that makes it difficult to get a starting place. So it was important for me to score to help my case.

"I hope it will help me because there are more strikers than ever. I keep working hard and feel confident so hopefully the manager will keep playing me.

"I'm delighted. It was a fantastic first-half performance and with our three-goal cushion the result was safe."
