GORD: I WAS IN CONTROL AT THE 'GOALDavid Mccarthy IT might have been a Heart-stopping moment for the near-capacity crowd at Tynecastle but Craig Gordon last night insisted he was in complete control of the "goal" Livingston scored from a throw-in on Saturday GaborVincze's 87th-minute throw into the boxbouncedupand over everyone into the net with Livingston claiming it hadbeen touched in the packed penalty area. Had referee Alan Freeland agreed Paul Lambert's men would have snatched a 2-2 draw but Gordon insisted he knew all along that by leaving the ball his team would be awarded a goal kick. Television pictures proved the Scotland No.1 to be correct but he didn't need confirmation. He said: "I don't think anyone touched the ball.I knew the only chance was if I went for it and got my fingertips to the ball that it was only me who could put it in. "I knew from the rules it would be a bye-kick.As far as I'm concerned, it was the right decision from the referee. You have to stay calm in situations like that and have a clear head - think very quickly on your feet." Livingston's Greg Strong said: "I don't think it would be out of order to say we deserved something from the game. "We just have to take the positive that we played well and hopefully we will take that into next week's game Taken from the Daily Record |
