BREWSTER WANTS TO KEEP WYNESSCraig Brewster revealed making striker Dennis Wyness' loan deal permanent will be his priority when spending whatever money he receives from new chairman David Sutherland's impending investment in the club. Sutherland replaced previous chairman Ken Mackie and has promised his construction company Tulloch, who are Caley's majority shareholder, will deliver a 400,000 sum which it is believed will primarily be used to cover the 100,000 loss Inverness incurred during their first season in the Bank of Scotland Premier League. A portion of the cash will also be given to Brewster to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window and the Inverness player-manager hopes he can use those funds to ensure Wyness remains in the Highland capital for longer than the terms of his season-long loan deal from Hearts. He said: "We will be trying to bring Dennis here permanently as he is a quality player, but we are still having preliminary discussions regarding his transfer. "I was hopeful he would have moved up to Inverness already, but he has had a problem selling his house which has shifted things back a little bit. "That is a shame as Dennis enjoys life up here and that is very important. "But suddenly there is a little bit of weight on his shoulders what with all the travelling he is currently doing because he hasn't yet sold his house. "I think he is desperate to bring his wife and two children to Inverness and once he is settled then we can start looking further ahead and try to make him a regular fixture at the club. Brewster also stated that while he does not know exactly how much money he will receive from Sutherland's investment, the one type of player he would like to sign if given the opportunity would be a midfielder with pace. He said: "I have no idea how much money I will receive, if any, and will only do so after having a chance to sit down and have a chat with David. "I am delighted with my squad just now but like any other manager I am always on the look-out to see what players may be available in the next transfer window. "I think the only thing we could do with is an injection of real pace into the team, as that is something we don't generally have from midfield to up front. "In saying that, not many teams in Scotland currently have that type of player, but that is the one area we could definitely strengthen by bringing in someone with electric pace who could frighten the opposition". Brewster is hoping his side can defeat Dunfermline to win their first home game in nine attempts, but will once again have to make do without long-term injury victims Roy McBain (knee), Liam Keogh (groin) and Stuart Golabek (groin). Barry Wilson has returned to training after overcoming his slight groin strain which ruled him out of last weekend's 1-1 draw against Rangers and Juanjo is once again pushing for a place on the bench after being named in the squad at Ibrox. |
