Robinson set to step down today ANGUS WRIGHT FORMER Hearts chief executive Chris Robinson is expected to resign from the Tynecastle board of directors today after a decade at the club. Robinson sold his stake in the club to Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov earlier this year, but remained on the board to guide the club through a transitional period. The unpopular official, who tried to sell Tynecastle in a desperate attempt to keep the club in business after racking up £19 million debts, briefed Sunday newspapers on his refusal to be intimidated by his enemies. "I'm not going to live out the rest of my life waiting or hoping Hearts fans are okay with me" said the former catering businessman, who claimed his 'Pieman' nickname was ill-considered and revealed he had been called 'Kruschev' at school. "I'm at peace with the majority of Hearts fans. A significant number probably still call me names but I think they should support the team and forget the past." Robinson now plans to spend more time in the catering industry, as well as play golf. "It will be nice to go to games and not be suicidal if you lose a crucial cup tie," he added.
