Kirk gets the creditPAUL KIDDIE HEARTS boss Craig Levein today insisted that the club is crediting Andy Kirk with the goal which defeated Aberdeen at Pittodrie - despite the SPL having it officially registered as Kevin McKenna’s strike. The in-form Northern Ireland striker claimed the winner after the ball came off his shoulder following a header from Kevin McKenna, Steve Tosh’s best efforts on the line failing to prevent his side falling behind. Confusion surrounding the scorer quickly followed with the Pittodrie announcer declaring that Alan Maybury had netted, while others had it down as a Tosh own goal. Kirk was adamant that it was his goal, however, and despite referee Craig Thomson giving it to McKenna, Levein has moved to clear up the matter. He said: "It is Kirky’s goal. The ball came off his shoulder before going into the net." However, a spokesman for the SPL said: "The referee has the scorer against Aberdeen on the team lines as Kevin McKenna. That is the final say as far as we are concerned." |
