Nightmare for PatrickHEARTS star Patrick Kisnorbo today revealed how his Parkhead dream turned into a nightmare as the Jambos crashed 5-0 to Celtic at the weekend. The Australian fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition when he ran out in front of a packed Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon but the occasion quickly turned sour for the Gorgie defender as the home side romped to an emphatic victory. Clearly still suffering from their UEFA Cup heroics in Sarajevo three days earlier, Craig Levein’s outfit had no answer to the in-form hosts and any hope that the Tynecastle side would provide a stern examination for the league leaders quickly evaporated with Celtic racing into a 4-0 lead by half-time. Levein admitted by that stage it was a damage limitation exercise and to that extent the second period was an improvement with just Liam Miller’s 51st-minute strike adding to the visitors’ woe. As desperate as he was to play at Parkhead, Kisnorbo conceded he never imagined his big day finishing on such a low note. "Before the weekend I had only ever seen games at Parkhead on the television back home in Australia," he said. "It is the best stadium I have ever played in and was a dream come true for me to line up against Celtic there on Saturday. "Unfortunately it turned into something of a nightmare with us losing 5-0. "We didn’t play well but it is important that we can take what we can from the match when we go over the video analysis." Levein was left disappointed that the whole team misfired on the day. He said: "It wasn’t just one thing. We gave the ball away constantly, our clearances weren’t getting out of the danger area, we didn’t win enough headers or enough second balls in the middle of the park. "At 2-0 maybe we still had half a chance but once they got the third I wish I could have wound the clock forward." Hearts face Celtic in the Under-21 league tonight at Forthbank (7pm). In the Under-19 league, Hearts defeated Celtic 2-0 on Saturday with goals from Colin Strickland and Andrew Driver. |
