JAMBO-REE; Glorious Hearts' capital cup party.

Cup-crazy fans saluted their brave Hearts heroes at a joyous Jambo-ree last night to celebrate their first Scottish Cup triumph in 42 years.

There was dancing in the streets of the capital as soon as the final whistle blew at Celtic Park.

Four hours later, the Jam Tarts faithful wept tears of joy as the bus carrying the cup made its way down Edinburgh's Gorgie Road.

The pavements were a sea of maroon as jubilant players climbed on to the top of the single deck bus to join in the celebrations.

Two young female fans got so carried away, they ran topless along the road singing the club song.

Adults and children alike clambered on to every possible vantage point to glimpse their heroes.

Tears flowed as the fans caught sight of the cup, held tight by proud club captain Gary Locke.

Two youngsters suffered mild shock when they were crushed by the crowd. But Steven Ronaldson, 10, and sister Cheryl, 11, recovered quickly.

The fun will continue today when the team presents Lord Provost Eric Milligan with the trophy in the Council chambers.

The Hearts players will begin a tour of the city in an open-top bus at 1.30pm before parading the cup at Tynecastle at 3.30pm.

ALLY McCOIST was left shaken but unhurt after an angry fan confronted him on the pitch as the game ended. Two stewards dragged the man away and later police said no one had been charged
