Chris seeks more than memories.

Chris Robinson knows all about the heartache of 36 trophy-less years for Hearts fans.

The Tynecastle chief executive is one of the club's biggest supporters.

He can recall, as a toddler of five, seeing the Jambos' last Scottish Cup winning team parade the trophy in the capital back in April, 1956.

Hearts went on to win the League Cup in 1962, but since then the trophy room has lain bare - a fact which niggles Robinson as much as anyone.

And he will be as proud as any man in Gorgie if the famine ends against Rangers at Celtic Park today.

The 47-year-old said: "I have seen five finals - three against Rangers. But I also have memories of that Scottish Cup win in 1956.

"My mother listened to it on the radio and was so excited she took us down to Shandwick Place to see the cup coming back on an open-top bus.

"I remember the feeling of excitement that the mythical Hearts had won something. As a Hearts fan though, I can understand the feeling of not having won something for such a long time.

"Supporters have been tremendously loyal over the years, but the one thing missing is a trophy."

Hearts fans can still rattle off the names of the team who won the Scottish Cup when Robinson was a small boy.

He said: "I would like nothing better than the current team being spoken of that way. This side has the potential to be amongst the best Hearts sides I've seen.

"This season I always thought that European qualification was within our grasp. But it would have been hard to predict such a strong league challenge.

"We viewed this season as one of consolidation, with the stadium, the business side and the playing side all making progress.

"But it has come together all at once, and I think our performances maybe surprised a few people."

Hearts will not throw a party tonight if they win. An open-top bus ceremony and celebration will be arranged for tomorrow.
