DONE FOUR!; Hearts finish with SEVEN!

Hearts last night stormed out of Ibrox after having FOUR players ordered off and four booked as they crashed 3-0 to champions Rangers.

All four - Pasquale Bruno, David Weir, Neil Pointon and Paul Ritchie - will miss Tuesday's Coca Cola Cup quarter final against Celtic.

The Edinburgh club will almost certainly face a major SFA enquiry.

And the performance of referee Gerry Evans and his stand side linesman Gordon Alison will also be scrutinised.

It would have taken only one more Hearts red card and the game would have been abandoned.

Rangers manager Walter Smith played safe, saying: "We showed a slight improvement in the first hour of the match but the situation in the second half was farcical.

"It's not often you see that kind of thing in football."

Hearts chairman Chris Robinson actually appeared trackside in a bid to defuse the situation. Gordon Durie put Rangers into a half-time lead and second half goals from Gazza and sub Ally McCoist put it all beyond doubt.

Celtic needed a late Malkie Mackay goal to see off Dundee United after McSwegan's 87th minute equaliser cancelled out Van Hooijdonk's opener.

THE Celtic-led plan to lead a 10-club breakaway from the Scottish League has been snubbed by Rangers and Aberdeen. A meeting calling for change saw half the clubs fail to turn up.

Aberdeen chairman Ian Donald said yesterday: "I was invited to go to Parkhead but I was on holiday - I would not have accepted in any case."

ABERDEEN, Hearts and Hibs are chasing pounds 400,000-rated Norwegian striker Egil Ostnstad.

SHEFFIELD United's Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Alan Kelly is attracting interest from Celtic after failing to sign an extension to his contract at Bramall Lane.

RAITH Rovers will confirm Iain Munro as manager tomorrow to end the messiest chapter in their history.
