Hearts' Rousset is up for the cup
3 Apr 1996
HEARTS' goalkeeper Gilles Rousset has tasted the misery of cup final agony, and now he wants to put it right.
The Frenchman has been instrumental in the rise of Jim Jefferies' side this season.
And with Saturday's semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden looming, Rousset is ready to make amends for past disappointment.
He said: "I played in the 1988 French Cup final for Sochaux against Metz and ended up losing.
The game finished 1-1, but we lost 5-4 on penalties and it was sad to be beaten.
"However, hopefully, I can put things right at Hearts this season by winning the Scottish Cup.
"The game against Aberdeen is one that appeals to everyone at the club.
Both sides are very close and we know it will be a tough game." Rousset believes that at this stage of the competition, it's almost impossible to pick a favourite for the trophy.
He said: "When you look at both semi-finals, it is clear they will be hard matches for all four teams.
Any one of them could win the competition."
