Booth the party pooper

17 May 1993

ABERDEEN continued their build-up to the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers by spoiling the retirement party for Dundee United boss Jim McLean with a 4-1 win at Tannadice.

The Taysiders' young striker Christian Dailly levelled an early Scott Booth goal, but the Dons' Under-21 international struck again in the second half with the others coming from Andy Gibson and Brian Grant.

CONTROVERSIAL

Ally Graham gave Motherwell an early lead in their Lanarkshire derby match at Airdrie.

Justin Fashanu equalised for the Diamonds, but Phil O'Donnell grabbed a controversial winner for the Fir Parkers just on half-time with Airdrie claiming 'keeper John Martin had been fouled.

Gerry Britton gave Partick Thistle a winning end to the season.

His 35th-minute strike was enough to beat Hibs at Easter Road.

St Johnstone were too good for Hearts at Perth.

The Saints won 3-1, with goals from Guni Tufasson (penalty), Harry Curran, and Martin Buglione.

Hearts scorer was 19-year-old Tommy Harrison.
