What Happened | Hearts had a habit in the seventies of making a meal of teams from division 2 (as it was then), so the visit of Clyde was no foregone conclusion. Maters were not helped when Jim Cruikshank was stretchered off and replaced in goal by centre forward Donald Ford. The effect on the team and the fans was galvanising. Hearts played a great game and sank Clyde 3-1. The whole stadium joined in with the singing creating an atmosphere not bettered in many a game. Clyde only managed to score by looping a long lob over Donald's despairing leap, he wasn't that tall! |
