Question Answer

Player Nominated

Drew Busby

Nominated By

Lynn Aoki

Where Do You Live

Hashimoto,Japan.

Why nominated

Although probably not the most skilful of players, the 'Buzz' made up for it by the amount of hard graft and sheer effort. He was a really genuine person as well and the fans could relate to him so easily.

I used to write to him,and he came and picked me up in my home town and took me to Tynie to meet the players. I was so nervous when I saw his wee VW Golf coming along, but after a couple of minutes in his car I felt that I had known him all my life. Ray Dunlop and my friend were there as well.

He also wrote to me and sent a photo of himself playing for Toronto Blizzards in Canada. I was devastated when he left the JTs. I don't think too many of today's 'prima donnas' would spare the effort to do that for a fan. Drew Busby is simply the best.

Memorable Games

A 2-0 win over Celtic in 1978. He scored both goals. The first a screamer from the edge of the box, flew past Latchford.

A Scottish cup replay at Greenock,Busby scored the only goal with a peach of a header, and left me tickets for the match.

Any penalty he took was memorable. Just blasted as hard as he could, magic!

Other Comments

When you see some players who have won a major honour I think it is a travesty that a player like Drew Busby never did. He is my hero of all heroes.

Love the guy tae bits.
