Back to tales

The "Pride of Edinburgh" fanzine is no more.

All These Are Genuine Entries from a recently-deceased Hibs website www.tpoe.co.uk

Oh Thank You, Lord Jebus.

This guy's site is PRICELESS. It's worthy of www.losers.org and, thinking about it, it would be highly appropriate. Why on earth he called it Pride of Edinburgh. Poor sap. (Unless, of course, he's a Jambo in disguise. what a conceit!) And this poor old Hibby's eventually realised it's not worth it. I sincerely hope he didn't end it all (see first entry) - just the website. But the way he's sounding, I'd check with his neighbours.

The 'Pride of Edinburgh' fanzine is no more.

After two years of running this website, I have decided, with some sadness, to end it. Only those who have run a website will understand the commitment required and I have found it harder and harder to give the site the time it needs. (I want to emphasise that this decision has nothing to do with the disappointment of the Cup final - I made my mind up weeks ago).

I want to emphasise that if Hibs had won the Cup Final, this site would be all-singing, all-dancing with bells on. And knobs. Especially knobs.

26 May 2001 Brave Hibees go down 3-0

Fantastic support, fantastic effort from the players, but no joy yet again for Hibernian. I felt we were the equal of Celtic in the first half and were still well in the game at 1-0 but it was all over when the second one went in. Honour in defeat but, to be honest, I have had a stomach-full of honourable defeat over the years. The bottom line is we lost and I am gutted.

Listen matey, your defeats were in Cup Semi-Finals, 6 of them in a row since 1979, and none of them was particularly honourable.

25 May 2001 We can beat Celtic

Hibernian can win the Scottish Cup Final tomorrow and bring the long-awaited trophy back to Easter Road. We are a strong, cohesive passing team with a lot of flair. Celtic are no more than a good team with one exceptional player. When Hibs walk out at Hampden it is just eleven v eleven in a stadium half-filled with Hibs supporters. It is a one-off and we are well capable of winning.

So at least Hibs weren't intimidated. Every other Saturday they play in a stadium half-filled with Hibs supporters

11 May 2001 Dress Rehearsal

Hibs head for Ibrox on Sunday to use a match against Rangers as the perfect warm-up for the Cup final. Rangers, on the other hand, have little to play for except pride. Laursen and Fenwick are both back in training and if everyone is fit, I think the team that takes to the field will be the side that starts at Hampden. If you want my guess, it will be Colgan, Smith, Sauzee, Fenwick, Lovell, Jack, Arpinon, O'Neil, Laursen, Paatelainen and Libbra.

Final Score:
Rangers 4 Hibernian 0.
A perfect warm-up for the Final, just like the man says.

Damn that Rangers pride!

6 May 2001 No case for the defence

Woeful defending led to Hibs taking a 5-2 beating from Cup final rivals Celtic today. It was a sore one to sit through with Celtic 5-0 up before we scored through a Libbra brace. Despite some reasonable periods of possession and some good chances in attack ourselves, we were cut apart when Celtic came forward. We will need to show a huge improvement defensively at Hampden where thankfully we should have Fenwick and Laursen restored to the team. We can but hope that this result will lead some at Parkhead to think the final is a formality."

Well, Thank God for Fenwick and Laursen is what I say.
(Only "some at Parkhead"?
What about the rest of them?
,A Formality?? - As If!)
