Hearts 1-2 Aberdeen

Hearts head coach Graham Rix said he was picking the team and not owner Vladimir Romanov and his side took the lead when Calum Elliot drove home.

But Hearts captain Steven Pressley deflected a Scott Severin cross into his own net.

And Clark gave the Dons a deserved win with a drive from 20 yards.

It was Aberdeen's first win at Tynecastle since 1999 and leaves Hearts 10 points behind SPL leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand.

Andy Webster and Robbie Neilson had returned to Hearts' starting line-up in place of Christophe Berra and Ludek Straceny, while Mirsad Beslija replaced the suspended Julien Brellier.

Striker Michal Pospisil dropped to the bench as new signing Bruno Aguiar came in to bolster the midfield on his debut.

And the home side should have taken the lead when defender Takis Fyssas set Rudi Skacel, but the midfielder drove his angled shot from 14 yards past the far post.

The opener was only delayed until Neilson swung a corner over to the back post and the unmarked Skacel slammed a cross into the six-yard box for Elliot to neatly side-foot home.

But Aberdeen, with defender Zander Diamond and midfielder Kyle Macauley replacing Neil MacFarlane and Ferne Snoyl, started to take control.

A Clark cross almost deceived Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon as it touched the bar before skipping clear.

Gordon had to throw himself to his left to parry a Barry Nicholson free-kick from around 25 yards.

The Hearts keeper then pulled off an even better save from Jamie Smith's curling shot from distance, rising to tip the ball over the bar.

Rix replaced Aguiar and Petras at the interval with Lee Wallace and Straceny.

Aberdeen brought Dutchman on for Macaulay and, when Darren Mackie soon followed for the anonymous Steve Lovell, the Dons fashioned an equaliser.

Gordon made another good save, this time from a Ferne Snoyl shot.

But, when former Hearts midfielder Scott Severin cut the ball back, home skipper Steven Pressley could only watch as the ball came off him at the near post and into the roof of the net.

And Clark gave the Dons victory with a shot deflected off Paul Hartley.
